My steering wheel extension came in and I tried to install it there. I broke the horn wires so I butt spliced it back together, now the horn doesnt work. I ordered a new Horn relay from Oreillys and a new Grant adapter kit from Amazon. I either blew the relay or I ruined the grant adapter. We’ll see in a couple days. But for now, I have no horn. At least my steering wheel isnt too close to the blinker stalk anymore. FML

I’ve been away from Oppo for a while, so pardon my ignorance if it’s something you’ve covered before, but: Is that an aftermarket steering wheel? I thought your truck was new enough to have airbags. The dash certainly appears to be.

The ranger got airbags in 1995, mine is a 1993. And ya, I got that grant wheel for my birthday last week

Oh awesome, happy birthday! Also, I had no idea the Ranger was so late to the airbag party. Interesting. FWIW, my ‘95 Sidekick doesn’t have airbags either, but its dash looks about 15 years older than yours.
(ignore the ghetto cupholder. Which actually works quite well.)

Was it an orange fiberboard horn adapter with a spring in the middle?

Atrocious design. A ton of people have trouble with them, myself included.

Happy late birthday. That's a sweet wheel. I may have to look into something similar.

Im thinking that because the horn isnt blaring 24/7 that its probably the horn button. I may end up returning the relay

If it worked before you probably don’t need it. You sure that butt splice was good?

No, Im not sure the butt splice is good. I forgot to pull the negative battery terminal when I first pulled the horn button, so It blared. I put the horn button back, pulled the terminal and when I put everything back the horn was non-op

My issue was the wheel was too close to the signal stalk. I kept accidentally signaling left

Haha that was about 2 hours after I had carefully windex’ed the whole dash. I just bought the car, and sorely underestimated how much dust comes in through the gaps in the ragtop. I live about 6 miles down a dusty dirt road, and so far the only way I’ve found to prevent significant, immediate dust buildup is to drive with the windows and sunroof closed. Problem is, the Sidekick has no A/C, and it’s been 90+f every day since I bought it.
Eventually I’ll get all the gaps plugged, but so far, it’s just getting super dusty inside.
